About the Course

Welcome to the Homeschool Edition of Master Google Sheets โ€” a complete one-semester elective that teaches your student the most useful data skills in the modern workplace, taught by a PhD engineer who uses them every day.

Enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester is now open. Coursework opens August 17, 2026.

This is not a watch-videos course. Over 8 structured weeks, your student learns by building real projects: a personal tracker, a professionally cleaned sales database, a self-calculating gradebook, a multi-table order database connected with lookups, customized charts, a real survey sent to friends and family, macros that automate repetitive work โ€” and a final capstone dashboard that combines everything into one working system they present to you.

What Your Student Will Learn

  • Spreadsheet fundamentals: building, formatting, and organizing professional sheets from scratch
  • Data cleaning like a professional: removing duplicates, fixing messy data, validation rules, Find & Replace with regular expressions
  • Essential functions: SUM, AVERAGE, the COUNT family, text functions, and date functions
  • Data lookups and analysis: VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT, and pivot tables
  • Charts that tell a story: professional, fully customized visualizations
  • Google Forms: designing surveys and quizzes, and analyzing real responses
  • Automation with macros: recording and editing macros that do hours of work in one click
  • AI-powered workflows: using Google's Gemini AI and the AI() function responsibly inside Sheets

What's Included

  • The complete video curriculum organized into an 8-week plan

  • Certificate of completion and lifetime access

How the High School Credit Works

This course is designed to support a 0.5 high school elective credit in Business Computer Applications. The credit is earned by doing, not watching: your student completes the weekly assignments, quizzes, and the capstone project, representing roughly 60+ hours of coursework across the semester. As the parent, you are the school of record โ€” the included Grading & Transcript Guide shows you exactly how to compute the final grade, record the credit on your homeschool transcript, and which documents to keep as evidence of mastery.

Who Is This Course For?

Homeschool high school students earning elective credit โ€” no prior spreadsheet experience required. The course starts from the absolute basics and builds week by week. These are skills your student will use in college, in any job, and in running anything of their own.

Requirements

A computer with internet access and a free personal Google account. Google Sheets is free โ€” there is no software to buy or install. (Note: the AI features work on personal Google accounts; wherever a feature isn't available, assignments always include an alternative path with no penalty.)
